Facilitators design meeting activities within time slots to cover instructions, activities, and wrap-ups.
Keeping the activities within the allotted time keeps the meeting on track.
When an activity goes over its’ planned time it often results in:
- the compression of the remaining activities,
- extra stress,
- and less value than planned.
Here are 5 ways to avoid an activity going over the allotted time limit.
1. Make sure enough time has been allocated for activities.
2. Appoint a timekeeper to maintain awareness on the time.
3. Limit sharing to people’s neighbors instead of the whole group.
4. If sharing with the whole group, limit it to 2-3 people.
5. Set expectations about the timing at the start of the activity.
