Change can be a rollercoaster, but there’s a stage where you start feeling like you’re back in the driver’s seat. It’s Stage 4!

I’ve found the anticipation and energy in this stage is similar to that of a Project Kickoff.

Here are some examples of how I’ve leveraged these feelings and behaviors to help people get from the need of discovery to a new perspective.

🎯 We focused on the positives and brainstormed new outcomes that will be possible after the change. This helped everyone imagine the possibilities and improvements that lie ahead.

🌟 We identified actions that needed to be performed and helped people find one that fits their skills. The key was to show appreciation. This helped others channel their newfound energy constructively.

👁️‍🗨️ We took every opportunity to step back and gain perspective with the bigger picture. They key is to remember to move in and out of the details and focus on how the change fits into the larger organizational goals. We asked ourselves what challenges or risks have not been discussed.

🕰️ We anticipated key decisions that had to be made by brainstorming with the team what these decisions might be and who should be involved.

⏳ We talked about being action oriented and where procrastination would hurt us the most. This included identifying the milestones where we would pause for feedback and insights from others along the way.

Remember, Stage 4 is about leveraging the feelings of the team of regaining control and engaging them appropriately. Embrace it, support others through it, and you’ll navigate change with greater confidence! 💪
