AI is an amazing tool that will boost the capabilities of people who are prepared for it.

Unfortunately, it will likely have a negative impact on many more people who are not ready for it.

A recent Harvard Business Review article provided 5 ways to future-proof your career in the age of AI.

I will share their 5 recommendations here (and add a sixth of my own):

✅ Keep your words original. If everyone uses AI generated content without adding their own thoughts and personality, everyone will begin to sound the same.

✅ Increase your empathy for others, self-awareness, and creativity. AI can only simulate these by predicting that words come next from historical data. Place an emphasis on this.

✅ Build real relationships with others. AI can’t do this on a personal level. Relationships are key to collaboration. Improve yours.

✅ Build your unique brand. Having a highly respected brand still matters. What makes you great and unique?

✅ Cultivate expertise in your field. Then use it to fact check and look for bias in the AI generated content and data.

🎈Research how your role, job, and industry may be impacted by AI, then learn how to leverage AI as a tool.

Keep these 5 things in mind that humans can do better than technology and AI, at least for now.

Stay informed. Stay prepared. Stay competitive.
