According to Wikipedia, Change Fatigue is “the general sense of apathy or passive resignation towards organizational changes by individuals or teams”. This arises when “when too much change takes place, or when a significant change follows immediately on early changes”.

The ADKAR change model from Prosci tells us to watch for these signs.Especially if they are growing more frequent or higher in intensity.

🤬 More frequent & louder complaints about changes
😐 Growing indifference. Disengagement. Stops asking questions.
😵‍💫 Burnout. Visibly worn out or low energy more often.
😬 Growing anxiety about the changes and their affects.
🧐 Resistant. Push back. Refusal.
🙄 Negativity. Cynical or sarcastic about the changes
😟 Skeptical. Express doubt about the change success.

The first step towards progress and improvement is awareness.
👍 Let’s watch for these signs on our teams and in our organizations.
👍 Let’s talk with our people and listen not only to their words but watch for feelings, thoughts, and behaviors that might tell us something different.
