📌 VisiCalc was the first electronic spreadsheet introduced in 1979. It replaced large paper spreadsheets, but it only did numbers.

📌 Lotus 1-2-3 was introduced in 1983, sold for $495, and combined numbers with charts and simple database functions.

📌 Microsoft Excel was introduced in 1985, first on the Mac and later on MS-DOS and Windows.

📌 Lotus 1-2-3 was retired in 2014. It could not compete with the Microsoft Juggernaut.

So when you use a spreadsheet today, this back to what it used to be like when they were paper, then VisiCalc, then Lotus 1-2-3, before turning to the now popular Excel.
