Fun Fact Friday: Bananas are curved because they grow downward but then turn to grow toward the sun.
When bananas begin to grow they are hanging downwards due to gravity.
Sunlight helps them grow by spurring a growth hormone. That triggers a phenomenon called negative geotropism – growing against the force of gravity.
They begin to grow toward the sun, because it has a greater influence than gravity.
People are a lot like bananas. Those around us influence our growth. We grow toward them.
Remember that you are an influence to others – children and adults. Lead by example. Be a good influence.
